Does tint interfere with cameras, sensors or phone signal?
Short answer
Ceramic IR window tint does not interfere with phone, GPS, Bluetooth, satellite radio or toll-transponder signals, because its ceramic construction is non-metallic. Windshield strips are cut around the windshield cameras with pre-cut software templates, so cameras and sensors aren't covered.
Quick facts
| Construction | Non-metallic ceramic |
|---|---|
| Phone, GPS, Bluetooth | No interference |
| Satellite radio, toll transponders | No interference |
| Windshield cameras | Strip cut around them |
Why do some tints cause signal problems?
Metalized film uses tiny metal particles to reflect heat, and metal can interfere with electronic signals. Ceramic film gets its heat rejection from non-metallic particles instead.
What about headlight sensors and cameras?
Window tint goes on side windows, back glass and a windshield strip. For film on headlights and taillights, see our sister site's answer on headlight and taillight film.
How APC Auto Spa does it
APC installs non-metallic Ceramic IR window tint from Ceramic Pro, and cuts windshield strips around cameras with pre-cut software templates.
